I usually work on larger scale paintings using hand and machine made Japanese Papers and fluid acrylic paints.
The pandemic shattered my usual studio space and I was forced to pivot like so many others, and so, my home office became my tiny home studio. A folding table and strategic use of drop cloths and tarps made it possible to paint but the small space dictated size. And so, over a period of six months, The Mignon Series was born! Named for the petite steak my Mignons are morsels of deliciousness.
Mignon I, II , III , IV , V , VI , VII , X are works on heavy duty watercolour paper , Japanese Papers and fluid acrylic paint, mounted on cradle birched panels. Mignon VIII and IX are fluid acrylic paint and Japanese Paper on gallery depth canvas.
My compositions are scaled down but the papers still shine within that smaller scale. My love of bold colours are tempered a bit and the palette is somewhat limited, but the effect is similar to my large scale paintings. COVID may have claimed my studio but it did not claim my Creativity!
