Rhonda is a self taught abstract painter who has been creating bold and colourful pieces since 2006. Her work is mainly comprised of acrylics and frequently includes texture through acrylic-based mediums.
Her style can be described as intuitive and free-flowing. She paints with abandon and relies on instincts for her colour selection and compositions. Much of her work is filled with shapes and lines, minimalistic in nature. However, the bright pops of colour and heavy texture add depth and perception to her work.
Experimentation is the key to many of her paintings. She enjoys trying new mediums, tools and materials to create her artwork. Recently she began working with resin and metallic leaf to add dimension and shine to her pieces.
Rhonda credits her creativity to her childhood hobbies of dance, singing and acting. Those creative and artistic outlets enabled her to reach a level of comfort in expressing herself, which clearly shows in her work.
Currently Rhonda works out of her home in Guelph, Ontario, with the goal of one day having a studio to create her pieces. She lives with her husband and their fur babies. You can find her work at: www.rhondahewitsondesigns.com
