Alice Plummer

I have an MFA, with a specialization in Painting. I have shown my paintings across Massachusetts and I have shown for charity at Museum London, in London, ON and at 44 Gaukel in Kitchener, ON. I am based in the Waterloo Region.

My inspiration has always been about the worlds I feel connected to. I have always been extremely connected to the natural world, in particular to trees, other plants, animals, elements and planets. I have always thought of the sun, the earth and her creatures as providing me comfort and wisdom.  Colours create the elation, the sorrow, the contemplativeness, the love and the meditativeness that they and I share with each other. My art reflects me, comforts me, and exposes the worlds within me and how they are constantly changing and connecting with these outer worlds.

The media that I use is ink, acrylic, oil, oil sticks, tempera paint, pastels, crushed pumice stone, crushed glass and other granular media. The media and colours represent how I imagine the elements. The brilliance of the firelight, the fluidity of and the organic shapes created by water, the movement of air and the wind and the thick, earthy texture of minerals. The elements are transmutative and I am drawn to this ability that is inherent within them and within all of nature itself.
